Please note that eFiled documents do not become part of the case file and court record until they are reviewed and accepted by court staff. Once your filing is accepted or rejected by court staff, you will receive an email confirmation.

 

Helpful Information for E-Filing

 

o   For an Overview of E-Filing in the Massachusetts Courts.

o   The eFile Fee (Provider Fee) is $22.00 for each new eFiled case (one-time charge paid only on initial case filings). There is no eFile Fee for submitting an envelope into an existing case.

o   Acceptable Payment Methods: eCheck (ACH) and credit cards (MasterCard, VISA, American Express).

o   Review the Massachusetts Rules of E-Filing (SJC Rule 1:25).

o   Standing Orders: E-Filing in the Supreme Judicial Court,  E-Filing in the Appeals Court, and Mandatory E-Filing in the Housing Court.

o   For information about indigency waivers:  Indigency (waiver of court fees)

o   Instructions for the Housing Court: E-Filing in the Housing Court. Housing Court eFiling by attorneys remains mandatory for all filings of summary process or small claims actions.

o   Certain protections in non-payment eviction cases remain in effect in Massachusetts.  See St. 2020, c. 257, as amended by St. 2021, c. 20, as amended by St. 2022, c. 42.  Resources about eviction are available online here.
